Bibliophile

I love books. If others dream of a huge entertainment room in their house, mine would have its own library. To say that reading makes me happy is an understatement. Reading has brought me to places I have never been, lifted my spirits when I'm down, and comforted me when I felt alone. I also realize that this is my only hobby and at times think it's such a lazy hobby compared to others that make use of the hands. Sometimes I think I should have another hobby like other moms do; like making accessories or knitting. But it's not really very appealing to me plus the crazy thought that I would look like a boring old maid with yarn and pins in both hands. So I'm just gonna stick with reading which makes me feel both smart and cool. Yeah, as shallow as it may sound.

But sometimes I get what I call a reader's  block (coined from writer's block). Whenever I read a really good book, the kind that puts me up all night and inspire me to immediately do my tasks for the day so I can get back to it, it stays with me. And when I finish, there is always this aching feeling that I want more. Of course there is no 'more' after I read all the pages. So my solution is to find another book that is good enough to at least satisfy my obsession. However, sad to say, it isn't easy to do that. Sometimes I just get so attached to a very good book and it is hard for me to transition to another one especially when the first few pages do not impress me.

This is actually my dilemma right now. I have read The Passage by Justin Cronin two months ago and I was so into it. It was amazing. (I'll probably make a separate post about the novel.) And since then I still haven't got myself a book that really captured my interest. Sure, I finished one novel after that but it is definitely not a favorite. Right now, I'm reading 5 books. That's what I do when a single book fails to hold my interest.

I've been so bored lately that my reader's block frustrates me. I've got a lot of ebooks in my Kindle but nothing really catches my attention. I've bought a new book, too. I hope it turns out good but I can tell already that I have issues with the author's writing style. I'll discuss it more on a separate post.

So there, you've just read how much of a bookworm I am. I'll probably be doing some book reviews in the future. That was actually the original plan for this blog but it was fun to write other things as well. No, this is not gonna be a book blog. Oh no... that would make me too much of a geek. Yikes! I'll just post some books that I've read or have been reading so at least I have an outlet and not just keep those interesting reads to myself.

So, that's all folks!

Cheers!

  2. That will be cool. Do some book reviews. I didn't know that was what I'm feeling, a reader's block. I haven't read a book in months.

Maybe your reviews can get me to read.

    P.S. I missed a day!

  4. Hi sis, another unabashed bookworm here. =) I so love reading too, that's why I *ruined* my eyes so early on (I got my first eyeglasses back in fifth grade) reading well after dark and even in moving vehicles. I'm a self-confessed geek as well, though I have too many things going on in my life to really focus my blog on just books. ;) Hope you find another such book to pique your interest soon. Good luck sis!
